I'm doing a project on the Adelaide Fringe - how can I obtain more information?
The Adelaide Fringe gets loads of questions from students from all around the country. A great starting point for any project is our Fringe archive: www.fringevault.com.au
The Fringe staff are more than happy to help students with their studies but it does get incredibly busy in the office. We won't always be able to answer all your questions, but we will do our best to get back to you as soon as we can. If you do need any specific information, the best thing to do is email your questions to buzz@adelaidefringe.com.au and we'll work out who the best person to answer your questions will be!
Who can be a part of the Adelaide Fringe?
Everyone! The Adelaide Fringe is an open-access festival which means anyone can register. If you're an artist or venue operator who would like to hold events during Adelaide Fringe 2012, registrations will open in August 2011.
For more information read Taking Part. The Adelaide Fringe also seeks interested volunteers to help stage the festival- from everything to parade marshalls to event assitants.
Are there any free events?
Yes! There is literally something for everyone at the Fringe including plenty of free events. When the Fringe Guide comes out in January of each year, check the first few pages for details of the free Opening Night Street Party, Fringe Family events and heaps more!
Where does the Fringe take place?
The Fringe happens all over Adelaide. Traditionally centred on the East and West Ends of the CBD, there are venues spread throughout the city and suburbs. With events happening everywhere from Macclesfield to Murray Bridge, from Mawson Lakes to Port Augusta, Norwood and Hindmarsh, the Fringe is happening everywhere! The Adelaide Fringe is always seeking more venues so if you own or operate a venue read about how you can get involved here.
What are Fringe Managed Events?
These are the events that the Adelaide Fringe organises to help create a carnival atmosphere in Adelaide during the Fringe. Most of them are free so gather a bunch of your friends and get along.
2012 Adelaide Fringe Managed Events will be announced early January 2012 with the Fringe Guide.
