FRINGE BENEFITS GALLERY
13/04/2011
Fringe madness has come and gone for another year, but there is still plenty of buzz at Adelaide Fringe headquarters as the Fringe Benefits Gallery prepares to launch its first exhibition for 2011.
Fringe madness has come and gone for another year, but there is still plenty of buzz at Adelaide Fringe headquarters as the Fringe Benefits Gallery prepares to launch its first exhibition for 2011.

Kicking off with a free opening night party on Tuesday 12 April, the upcoming exhibition features work by six of Adelaide’s best emerging artists - all visual arts students from UniSA.

Titled CON-NEC-TION, the exhibition boasts everything from abstract paintings and fine art, to vinyl pieces and handmade jewellery.

“Our exhibition is about exploring sensory triggers, focusing on touch, sight and beauty,” says featured artist, Claire Foord.

Located in the Adelaide Fringe foyer at 105 Hindley Street, the Fringe Benefits Gallery aims to support local emerging artists and curators by giving them a space to practice and showcase their work for free.

As part of the concept, the artists are given free reign to curate the exhibition and develop their own theme and title.

Claire says the project has enabled the group to gain hands-on experience outside of their studies.
“This is the first time that many of us have publicly exhibited our work, so for us, it’s a great opportunity to put our skills into practice and get a kickstart into the arts industry,” says Claire. “Plus, it’s given me a chance to lead a group of artists for the first time, while having the support of Fringe Benefits and Adelaide Fringe to help generate exposure.”
